ARIVIALAGAM Charitable Trust conducted a seven-day summer learning program titled “Let’s Learn Science” to encourage curiosity, practical learning, and scientific thinking among students. The program was designed with hands-on experiments, demonstrations, creative activities, and interactive learning sessions.
During the seven days, students were introduced to various areas of science including optics, magnetism, mechanics, chemistry, fluorescence, motors, projection systems, flight, and creative model-making.
Day 1 – Microscopy, Laser Observation and 3D Imaging: The program began with interesting science experiments, including viewing bacteria using laser light, practical 3D photo capturing, and viewing 3D images using red-cyan anaglyph glasses.
Day 2 – Magnetism, Gyroscope and Sound: Students explored magnetic lines of force, gyroscope experiments, and the working principle of a speaker through practical demonstrations.
Day 3 – Chemistry and Chemical Reactions: Chemistry experiments were conducted to help students understand chemical reactions in a simple and practical manner.
Day 4 – Fluorescence and Phosphorescence: The session focused on fluorescence and phosphorescence experiments, giving students an understanding of light-emitting materials and related scientific concepts.
Day 5 – Motors, Cinema Projector and Origami: Students learned about the working of motors, the working principle of a cinema projector, and also participated in origami paper craft activities.
Day 6 – Flying Machines: Students made and tested flying birds, rubber-band gliders, hand-throw gliders, and parachutes, helping them understand the basic principles of flight.
Day 7 – Closing Ceremony and DIY Kit Distribution: The program concluded with a closing ceremony. DIY science kits were distributed to the participants as gifts to encourage them to continue learning and experimenting at home.
Overall, the “Let’s Learn Science” program created an engaging and enjoyable learning environment, helping students experience science through practical activities and creative exploration.
A practical learning session was conducted for Class 9 and 10 students to help them understand the optics concepts covered in their science syllabus. The session focused on topics such as lenses, mirrors, vision, image formation, and optics in nature.
Students were given hands-on demonstrations using different lens samples, including concave and convex lenses. The working of lenses and mirrors was explained through practical experiments, helping students observe image formation directly. The session also covered common eye defects and their correction using suitable lenses.
Through the use of optical kits, students were able to physically see and experience the concepts that they had studied in their textbooks. This practical exposure helped them understand the subject more clearly, improved their confidence, and supported better academic performance in examinations.
A science awareness program was conducted at Sowrastrapuram Govt. Hr Sec School for students from 1st to 5th standard. The students were actively participated in the event and engaged in various activities for a hands-on experience.
A practical science activity was conducted for students of Classes 10 to 12 to help them understand the nature of light and its related phenomena. The session covered important concepts such as white light, dispersion, refraction, diffraction, 3D stereographic images, and holograms.
Students were taught about natural phenomena of light, including why the Sun appears reddish during sunrise and sunset. The composition of white light was demonstrated using a prism, showing how white light splits into different colours. A diffraction grating was also used to split light with clear separation of colours, helping students observe and understand the concept more effectively.
The refraction of light was explained using glass bars, allowing students to see how light bends when it passes from one medium to another. The session also explained the difference between a normal photograph, a 3D stereographic image, and a hologram.
Students were given different white-light holograms to view and compare. This hands-on experience helped them understand the difference between various image-recording techniques and made the concepts of light and holography more interesting and memorable.
A Science Awareness Program was conducted at Santhai Road Government High School for students of 6th to 8th standard. The students actively participated in interactive experiments and demonstrations, showing great curiosity and enthusiasm. The program made learning fun and engaging, helping to spark their interest in science and develop critical thinking skills.
Arivialagam is supporting free evening study centres at six different locations in Dindigul, benefiting students from various classes and backgrounds. These centres provide a supportive learning environment where students can revise their lessons, complete homework, and strengthen their understanding of important subjects.
Under the guidance of experienced teachers, students receive help in clarifying doubts, improving problem-solving skills, and preparing effectively for examinations. Arivialagam supports the teachers at these centres, ensuring quality instruction and regular academic guidance for all students.
The evening study centres create a calm, focused, and encouraging atmosphere for learning. This initiative helps students make better use of their study time, gain confidence, and improve their academic performance, irrespective of their location or background.
With mutual understanding, a local free tuition group is utilizing the Arivialagam space for evening studies. Students of Class 10 & 12 are utilising this opportunity. This provides them with a conducive learning environment.
This program is specially designed to help students excel in their public board exams. It focuses on thorough revision of key concepts, solving previous years’ question papers, and mastering exam strategies to improve accuracy and speed. By participating in this program, students gain confidence, strengthen their understanding of subjects, and maximize their performance in 10th, 11th, and 12th board exams.
These classes are designed to provide extra guidance and support for students who want to strengthen their understanding of key subjects. The program encourages questions, interactive learning, and practical examples to make difficult concepts easier to grasp. By participating in these special support classes, students gain confidence, improve their academic skills, and develop a stronger foundation for future learning.
